My 2025 Travel Memories: Capturing Sunset Moments

I didn’t end up making a single post in 2025 and it is now almost halfway through 2026. Life happens!

At the end of 2024 I knew I was moving home in the new year, so I decided to take a picture at sundown every day in the new year. I missed a couple of days in early January, prompting me to add a calendar reminder every day for the rest of the year. The photos are not all sunsets, again, life happens, but this exercise made sure I was present every day for at least a small moment.

According to my phone, which was with me everywhere, I travelled over 68,000 kilometers in 2025 – from 55.95° north to 17.93° south and 32.63° east to 123.49 west. I visited six different countries, or seven if I count England and Scotland separately.

I have noted the location on the photo on the first day in that place. Time stamps reflect the local time.

It was a momentous year. Before I moved back to Canada from Uganda in June, I made two work trips to Zambia incorporating a side trip to safari in Chobe, Botswana and spent three weeks exploring the UK with my Mum. In the fall, I visited Cyprus. Sadly, that trip was cut short by my Dad’s sudden illness. I travelled home and had 3 weeks with him before he passed away in late October.

I finished the year with a lovely family Christmas at my daughter’s, my granddaughters 2nd Christmas but the first where she was able to open her own presents. It was good to be home, even if it was cold and snowy and lacking in palm trees.

The why for my move home, in photos:
